Jonathan Gershenzon elected to EMBO membership
Jonathan Gershenzon, Head of the Department of Biochemistry, has been elected to membership of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). This prestigious honor recognizes his outstanding contributions to the life sciences.
Jonathan Gershenzon is one of 120 scientists elected this year, a notable milestone as EMBO celebrates its 60th anniversary. His election to EMBO membership highlights his pioneering research in chemical ecology. His work has significantly advanced our understanding of biochemical pathways of secondary metabolites in plants, particularly those involved in plant defenses.
As an EMBO member, Jonathan Gershenzon will join an illustrious community of over 2,100 scientists, including 92 Nobel Laureates, who have been recognized for their groundbreaking research contributions. “"I am very pleased to hear about being selected for EMBO membership because it puts me in the company of many outstanding European scientists. I look forward to joining future EMBO symposia and learning more about the work of these new colleagues," he says.
The formal induction of the new EMBO members will take place at a meeting of the EMBO community in Heidelberg, Germany, from October 29 to November 1, 2024.
