Main Focus
In my project, we focus on the niche choice mechanism, defined as the process when organisms choose different microenvironments, often matching their phenotype, to maximise their fitness. While multiple studies found that individuals indeed choose different microenvironments, the choices sometimes mismatch their phenotypes. Therefore, I am interested in how the niche choice evolves and how its evolution affects the fitness of the organisms using a notorious pest worldwide (Colorado potato beetle) as a study organism.
